i dunno if "moderated" approvals is the way to go - i think the time lag would be too detrimental. an automated system might help out - mollom.com has a great service though for the size of this forum, you would probably have to pay.

that said, i think the moderators do a good job of cleaning most threads clean - i had two of my posts deleted and my account banned when i posted a thread about my site offering apps at a discount. it was a misunderstanding but my posts were out the window within a few hours...

This is an old thread. Since it was created, the spam here has decreased by 90%+. Basically, there's a manageable amount now. Of the "spam" that remains, a certain amount of it is actual people (not bots) trying to promote something. Sorting this from legit posts (like Pete's app bundles, which were deleted by an honest mistake) is what's tricky sometimes. Personally, I'd rather err on the side of caution and let an iffy post stay on the forum once in a while than ban a legit user. We're human, and we screw up sometimes, but you guys can help us by reporting posts that look obviously spammy, or pm-ing a mod if you have any questions.
