Market problem

Hello im having problems with my market it wont let me set it up. As i try to sign in it takes a long time and then i get an error that says there was a problem with my mobile network and i really need to get the realcalc application for my math test tomorrow. Fixing the market could wait but i need that app so is there a way to download it over wifi?

First are you rooted/what rom?, second yes wifi will work unless it is your first setup i think but that may just be for some roms, wifi should work if not try a factory reset if u need it that bad....if u are rooted go into recovery console and type

su(not required if you already have root)
fix_permissions
reboot (once fix permissions has run its course

Its a Sprint Hero but its not rooted but I did have my friend flash it to another network right out of the box before setting up everything but now I want to set it up and I get that error.... would I need to flash it again if I do the factory reset or if I root it?
