I have yet to put it down, IMO it is much more functional with the slide out keyboard. I am not knowledgeable about the technical aspects or future upgrades, but I do know that the processing speed is very nice.

I really like SenseUI and the multi-touch features of the Hero. Not to mention, Android 2.0 is coming to the Hero.

There is no word on 2.0 for the Moment. I could live without SenseUI but, I am not sure about living without multi-touch.

I currently have a Palm Pre. It is a nice phone and very hackable yet, it's App Catalog is extremely limited and the SDK is lacking is many areas. I love the browser on the Pre. I love many aspects of the UI. I don't like the cheap plastic feel of the phone and the slider is a mess.
