you know what's no fair? not being given an Android Community t-shirt at the launch party. Already at a huge disadvantage. Add on to that the fact that I only have one working arm, so "sculptures" will be hard to come by. Mutiny anyone? :-))

do keep in mind though that it is impossible to use 3g when on at&ts network, different frequency then t-mobile.
but honestly, i havent noticed a difference, it still works amazingly on 2g att |

I used to think the same thing, but apparently it just depends on the service rep you get. The reason I say that is because I know of one G1 owner who is going to Taiwan in a few weeks and he called and they unlocked it for him. No way he's had it anywhere close to 90 days.

I unlocked it because there's no TMo in Belgium.
And I want to use it with Proximus (national carrier) and be able to use it with other cards when I go abroad. Now, I can say that once you've set-up the network specifics, it works like it works on the TMo network. It just takes a little surfing to get everything collected before it works flawless. 3G, 2G, even syncing. As long as you have a valid, working data channel, it doesn't matter which carrier you use. Just have to fiddle a bit more to get MMS working

Is it possible to use the G1 on the Verizon network if it's unlocked? I don't know much about Verizon's network, but after messing around with a G1 I've come to really like the device. I just don't want to switch to TMobile.
Thanks! |

Ive never had any problems ever unlocking phones from tmobile. And that 90 days before you can unlock it was never a problem. I just call them up on 611 tell them I need the unlock code and they give it to me right away. Im not sure how different it is unlocking the G1 but im guessing its just a code that has to be punched in as well.

... good seeing you here Jim .I'm not sure whether it's the 90 days after signed contract, or at least 90 days of being a T-mo customer. But the service rep. did hesitate at first, until I told her that I'm off to an overseas biz trip in a few weeks and I absolutely must have my phone unlocked by then. She was very understanding afterward ... got the code emailed to me the next day. ![]() Hats off to T-mo for their prompt response. Last edited by vuvision; 10-29-2008 at 05:25 PM. |
