Re: T-Mobile G1 powered by Google Android now available
I liked the idea of the G1. Tested it at a T-Mobile store yesterday. I loved the touchscreen and the keyboard. Keyboard buttons were a little flat, hard to tell if it was pressed or not.
The only reasons I wanted the G1 was because it was a "glorified sidekick" with a touch screen. The most important application on a phone has to be AIM because I'm deaf and use that to communicate with friends/family. After seeing the G1 AIM, nothing can beat the sidekick's AIM. Hopefully they'll fix the AIM on the G1 or have a 3rd party develop a better AIM application. There was no idle notifications of screennames on my buddy list and I know for a fact one of them was idle for 5 days. It can be frustrating to IM people and think they're ignoring you when in fact they're idle.
My contract ends in December, hopefully they fix all the bugs/problems with the applications. Also the bar code scanner didn't work. I scanned a car charger at the tmobile store and it didn't show any results! A Tmobile branded car charger!! How ironic.
