This is slightly wrong in that the Free PC client of Spotify has gone back to invite only. The Premium account, which is needed for the Android app, is still openly available for the same price.

As Abaddon says, the title of this story is a bit misleading: only the free version is back to invite-only: anyone in the UK (or indeed any of the other supported countries) can sign up right now for premium and instantly get access to 4.4 million tracks on their Android.
