Not all G1 owners in the UK getting RC8 updates

I haven't received the update yet and I think that "AnyCut route" is a bit of BS. Every time I do it, it says "Checkin started..." and then "CHECKIN_SUCCESS" nothing more, nothing less.

My update arrived this morning. Looks like RC8 is more than just the root console fix applied to RC7.

It also has the changes to USB storage that were in the RC28 update in the US so I am assuming it is a full rebuild of RC30 for the UK market.

Hi all. Just to update, i got the RC8 Update lastnite via. the Anycut method !

Also i noticed when it was downloading the Update, the File name didnt say TC5-RC8 blah blah it said TC5-RC7.7 etc..

Anybody else noticed that !?

Also, What the Hell where they doing with the OTA update ? my phone states that RC8 was created on
Tue Nov 4th @ 16:28:35 PST 2008.. So its been hanging around for what.. 10 days (in my case)

I have finally received mine! At 4 in the morning. It seems Google (or whoever) are rolling the updates out at nights.

I can confirm that the reboot issue is gone and the device *seems* to run cooler when using 3G actively.

Didn't have a chance to test the USB improvements and we'll see about the battery life tonight.

It's not 7.7. Looking at the file name...

".../updates/signed-kila_uk-ota-116470-prereq.TC5-RC7.7a5a0178.zip"

Its an update for RC7 users to go over to RC8 on build 116470. That's the way I interpret it. For all we knew, we could of been going to RC9 or RC10, but obviously news reports suggested otherwise.

It seems like the AnyCut method is just a way of activating the update quicker. I think it checks with the server you're assigned to every so often (as seen on the AnyCut method with Device Info) if you didn't bother to do that method.

I was a lot happier to have received the update over my wireless connection rather than 3G. Thank-god for a 20meg broadband line .

Well, I've got the pop-up that there is an update the second I've activated one of my alarms. Maybe there's an "alarm clock method" then?

Lol ! i bet they will fix that alarm clock issue in RC9 . lols,
and Tunster, i think i must have worded my post wrong. i didnt say that the Update was for RC7.7 im just saying the Zip file (which you have added the full name for) said RC7.7 and just wondered why haha. sorry !

Sorry for the aside, but I'm a UK user - does anyone know how to add MSN, AIM and YIM IM accounts to the IM app? I can only get GTalk and the MENU key does nothing.
