WOW its pretty good so far!

It definitely uses DATA and not SMS for messaging too. I have NO connection whatsoever where i am right now other than WIFI and its working fine.

It could still use a couple more features to be perfect though-

The ability to add SOUND NOTIFICATIONS when a msg comes in (EVEN inside a conversation window)

AND

On AIM/ICQ for me (I'm an icq user)

It just shows my contact lists ICQ numbers- NOT their names.

The Sidekick 2008 finally fixed that, my old SKII only showed names.

Tweak those two things and this is GOLDEN

i think the notification icon on the bar is by purpose. it's to let you switch between meebo and other apps quickly.

many missing features but atleast it would stay connected.

EDIT Also there is no audio notification and no LED notification.

Needs to show the nicknames, smiley support, ability to end convos, and more settings options...but other than that....NICE. now I can stay logged in

I tested it a bit more- its pretty good!

A few things I'd like to see added:

1) Options for audio notifications-

one for new msgs (and allow them in conversation mode)

and a different one for if you get disconnected. It should also show a different icon in the status bar (window shade) if you lose your connection.

2) Show nicknames for SURE

3) Remember account numbers on login screen- password save should be an option.

4) Smileys, etc

5) Msg preview in status bar (like texting) would be KILLER


overall very nice! gives me a little more excitement about my G1
