I will sell my G1 and extend my contract (I love T-Mobile) for this phone. Too bad T-Mo is just releasing the HTC Magic, which means if it does the the Hero, it wont be released till way later. Grrr....

man.... this is getting tough. i kinda prefer the look of the magic more than the hero... at least the 'chin' is less pronounced (wonder what the hero chin would do to landscape typing) but the sense UI is SOOOOOOOO compelling.

what are the odds of having the sense UI working on the Magic? that would be awesome....

but... but.... teflon coated body..... and.... i guess i can learn to love the Hero... DOH!

Best Android phone I've been teased with yet. In fact, all things considered maybe the best smartphone yet, period. Great UI, Flash, pinch zoom, 3.5 jack, very good if not quite state-of-the-art hardware in a small, thin, light package - it's got it all. A faster CPU would eat more power anyway.

And I really like the looks - clean, simple, functional, including the chin which protects the screen and trackball if you set it face-down. No iPhoney chrome trim, no gloss finish. No hard keys either, but for a phone this slick...I'm beginning to feel flexible about that requirement...

Maybe T-Mo will offer this later on, about the time my contract is up.

if it had a physical keyboard, it would be perfect almost... but virtual keyboards always are hard to type on for me, and slow me down.. can type 3 times faster on the physical keyboard than on the VK

From the brief play I had with it yesterday, the chin isn't especially noticeable. The way it tapers, together with the bevelled back edges of the whole handset, meant I actually found it less obstrusive than the physically smaller chin on the Magic.

i just had a feel of a dummy Magic at the vodafone store, and i have to say the pics are deceiving. the magic actually feels a lot smaller than i had first imagined. looking at the specs, seems like the hero is thicker? or are they measuring from the 'chin' to the ground?

i kinda prefer the rounded look of the Magic to the Hero, and i suppose i can live with a 3MP camera PLUS if what HTC's CEO says is true, then i might get the Magic and hold out for the Sense UI
