Hero owners have a good day ahead of them. I wasnt really bothered by the lag before, but after upgrading (I live in Norway) the phone is so fast and smooth that it feels like a completely different phone.
The touch to focus camera option is also really nice. The native scandinavian language support for the OS is also nice (and new). It opens up a much larger market for the phone in Scandinavia. But the translation is so badly done so I will go back to english I guess.
Enjoy the upgrade, I think it's really great.

Don't have the hero, but I'm looking forward to what JAC and others do with it, if it improves speed on the Hero, it should translate to improved speed on the G1 version.

The HTC official release will prevent you from rooting your Hero so my advice would be that if you want a rootable Hero, to go with a Modaco custom ROM installation - you can find information at the xda-developers site. The HTC Tweet on Thursday thanked users for their patience so I assume that means an official release will probably be sometime this week.
On my Hero, with the Modaco ROM:
Firmware version: 1.5
Baseband version: 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18
Kernel version: 2.6.27-8dd6deee
Build number: 2.73.405.5 146733
Software version: 1.0.0.A6288
@BandedHawk ,
What improvements in real world does it do regarding the upgrade?
