I am still really liking this phone more and more every day i see more coverage of it. I am saddened to see that this will be comming to sprint and not T mobile, as I have had my G1 since Oct 08, and was considering the my touch 3G untill I saw this being covered. It looks like the my touch3 g and the G1 will get some cooked roms to import heros features but would rather run the sense UI on its native hardware (the Hero). Maybe I will have to shell out the $700 for this phone unlocked

I'm in Sprint's hometown, near their World Headquarters, but I haven't seen or heard anything that Sprint will definitely get the Hero, only some rumors they're looking at it. T-Mobile has it in the UK, not that that means much. Have you got some other info you can share?

Be aware that if you get an unlocked European version 3G will not work on T-Mo's US network, only Edge.

As for the video, well, yeah, it's kinda strange. That WinMo guy really had no clue what to do with it.

This is the story I am reffering to http://androidcommunity.com/sprint-p...hone-20090629/ as far as an unlocked hero for Tmobile USA what you are saying makes sense about it only working on certain signals for 3 g but I like to be sure about things also before I take the plunge so I need to investigate more about if you can or can not get 3 g in the states on an unlocked hero.

That's one of the rumors I've seen, but it's nothing definite. At least let's hope it's not true. Other rumors say Sprint's Android phone will be a Samsung and Verizon will get the Hero. Who knows?

T-Mo uses 1700MHZ for 3G in the U.S. That's not used for 3G anywhere else in the world. T-Mo got stuck with it here 'cause, well, that's what was available. I seriously doubt you'll ever see an unlocked U.S. version of the Hero for sale.

That makes me sad to think about, I know there is going to be a huge demand for it here in the states just a matter of what carrier is going to pick it up, I dont see myself leaving Tmobile anytime soon so if i can not get it unlocked and use 3 g, I will have to start looking at the my touch again a little closer and think about using a cooked hero rom. Hey johnny, you plan on buying an unlocked hero and rocking edge only well that and wifi of course?

Quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE, yes, but the UMTS/HSPA bands are different.
