My most memorable Android experience? No single event stands out, but the realization that I'm carrying a device around in my pocket with more capabilities than most laptops has been something I won't forget. I've had the thing for 6 months, and I'm still amazed on occasion at all the things my phone lets me do. I can tweet while I'm mowing the lawn, e-mail pictures of my daughter on the monkey bars, check to see how level something is, read news articles, tune a guitar, and (if I time things just right) use Google Maps' satellite view to snap an overhead picture of myself crashing my car into a tree. :-)

Writing applications for Android has been fun up to now as well. I've enjoyed the process of putting my apps on the market, seeing how they're received, and the users I've gotten to know. I have a cool user base.

So, nothing in particular. The Android experience in general has been pretty cool though.

The most memorial experience with the android would have to be when i first got the T Mobile g1. When they announced the phone i decided i might as well take a look into development for the phone. I was extremely pleased with the fact that it was written entirely in java witch is my favorite programming language. when i downloaded the SDK i immediately fell in love with the OS it feels so nice to use. I deiced to get a grip on development for it i might as well make tic tac toe and i started witting it. I went to the store and bought a g1 a week after they came out and have not regretted it. Seeing my application uploaded for the first time was amazing. Knowing that the tic tac toe i made is still one of the top games on the market is absolutely amazing. To know over 100,000 people are using something I made makes me so happy. I am a very big supporter of open source technology and believe it is great. The android OS is going to become something great and it feels wonderful to be part of it.

My refrigerator had stopped working and the repair man finally came after 2 days of living with no fridge. The repair man determined that a part was needed and was calling his office to have it ordered. The model number of the refrigerator was on a sticker on the inside of the door and he was unable to read it because of wear and tear on the sticker. Android saved the day as I was quickly able to scan the barcode on the sticker and tell Mr. Repair man what the model number was.

As a java developer who has yet to jump into the Android Development I'd love to attend the conference.

Thanks,

Matt.

Give the tickets to Haykuro, Dude, and JF. They could teach the Google guys a few things.

My most memorable moment with Android closely followed the launch of the G1. I had learned java and had been working on an Android app in the year preceding the launch. Shortly after the G1 launch, 3rd party developers were allowed to post to the Android Market and those following days I watched my market stats climb. I had never released software before and seeing so many people interested in using my application (Statusinator) was quite a joyous experience.

Most Memorable G1 Moment:

I was out and about with the family all morning long and we had a great lunch outside as the weather was real nice and sunny. As we started to head back, my toddler son started to show some signs of fatigue. My wife and I were hoping that he would be able to calm we drove home but he started to fuss and a big tantrum was about erupt. I feared the worse since we still had at least another half hour to drive before we get home. That's when I remembered that my G1 had YouTube! I quickly pull my phone out and did a search for train videos. I handed over the G1 to my son and he started to calm down. He was really happy and I was amazed how easily he picked up how to use the touch screen and navigate from videos to videos.

As a K-9 developer, I would love to go to Google IO to learn the Android best and latest tricks to then share them with the community in your favorite open-source Android email client.

I was out at the beach a few weeks back and my girlfriend started to have an Asthma attack. Her being stuborn, she refused to go to the hospital so I had to pull out my G1 to get some info on how to treat her until we could get to a pharmasy for an inhailor. I found out that honey placed under the nose was a good home remedy so I raced to a local liquor store and bought a jar of honey which actually helped. Then I used googlemaps to find the nearest pharmasy where we got her an inhailer. I credit it to helping me get through an emergency
