Do we really need another? Loopt, Latitude, glympse...(I'm sure I'm missing some too...)

....and Google will fool around and add this to their system. Isn't their system distributed open source with Android? Someone could just add the functionality and release it as an enhanced version.
In some ways this is good because it will spur competition and the end user will benefit. But it sure does kill revenue chances for some companies. I guess you really have to develop something truly innovative to keep if you don't want to be copied...which again is good for the user. |

Thanks for sharing! I love this app. this is exactly what I wanted and what Latitude should be able to do. Currently, in Latitude, your location will stop being shared as soon as you leave the application or put the phone to sleep. (FYI, they have been "working on this" for some time with no change)
With Glyme, your location continues to be updated even when the phone is sleeping. This is perfect when I go out for a long bike ride. This let's my wife keep tabs on me & make sure I didn't get runned over, laying in some ditch ![]() Its very accurate and nearly real-time. As soon as I jumped on the highway, my wife's phone was showing me cruising along at 55mph I wish Latitude had this functionality, but until then I will be using Glympse! Thanks |
