Default Finally, Verizon makes the official announcement for the DROID ERIS by HTC

Well, guess what, after several pictures leaked and a premature unboxing, Verizon finally announces officially the carrier's second DROID. Yes, you got that right, the HTC Eris, which by the way, we also knew the price for it already; $99.99 with a two year agreement.

As we already know, the Eris will be on sale starting tomorrow, but since it doesn't come with Android 2.0, there won't be Google Maps Navigation. But there?s a microSD slot and Verizon is giving you an 8GB card with the phone. The new DROID Eris by HTC will also have both; GPS and a digital compass, so you won't be easily lost out there.

Anyway, for more, just read the press release below, and don't forget to read our review on the Motorola DROID so you can make a wise decision on which Android phone you want to buy with Verizon. Or you can always get one of the Androids from Sprint and get Anytime to Any Mobile, is up to you.

I just got mine! It's really good so far. I dumped my iPhone 3GS (AT&T) because of the horrible service in my area...

The Droid Eris does come with the Android 1.6 but the 2.0 O.S. will be made available in December for those of you still on the fence about that and the Moto Droid

I've been out of the android loop for a bit, I had heard the Eris was a rebrand of the Hero, is this correct?
Moot point, its looking like Verizon is getting the Dragon soon, if rumors are accurate, so I'll be waiting for that.
