I've got the extended battery from ebay, with the cover for less than $25, actualy I was pretty surprised, as the cover is decent quality, even has the ruberized coating, and my battery is 2300mAh, which last me all day with all the use, video watching, music streaming, and gaming, it is thicker, but the cover is different from the one pictured... will post the pics later ...

If the phone becomes that thick, probably it is hard for me to hold it!

I personally do not feel like the bulk is worth it. I feel like I buy smart phones for big power in a small package, and the general directions of microprocessor technologies is to reduce the overall size of our daily devices - therefor seemingly doubling the size and adding to the weight just seems like a step in the wrong direction.
I am interpreting the G1 as a device to help me realize just how badly we need alternative power for our consumer electronic market. The future should do away with all of our wiry mess.. I have like 7 phone chargers... SEVEN! I have 1 uglying up my BMW, along with my BlueAnt charger, 1 at my office, 2 in my laptop bag, and a few at home, 1 at my girlfriend's. This is ridiculous, but necessary, and seems a little primitive. I have heard of the military using hydrogen fuel cells in mobile devices such as sat. phones.. I can;t wait for this tech to drop. let';s just assume its true and the gubment has been using them for 2 years now, so we'll see them in 8.. Too long.. I think I am going to invest in one of the Seido batteries, but not the 2600mah. The 1400 or w/e it is offering up to 15% more seems like it would be enough to get me through the days so.. Nothing that beefs up the case though.. Retrospect: I also carry an AT&T Blackjack because I need to have both carriers and I like the tethering speeds I get with it. I have the expanded battery and larger back for that device, as well as 3 extra standard batteries and at least the expansion back for that phone still seems like it was meant to be. I even think I like the larger back a bit more because it feels like I could throw it a bit farther but.. That G1 back is just ridiculous. Have you seen the one where the indent is just the shape of the battery, so it looks like your device has some sort of rectangular cancer...? |

if you were getting about 20 hours of run time from your existing 1200mAh battery when it was new, you should expect to get a run time of about 43 hours and 20 minutes from a new 2600mAhmAh battery.

no way I could do that.. how in the world could you type using the keyboard if the backing doesn't even fit evenly in your hand?????
that would have worked with my dash or something.. but not at all with the g1 unless i'm in portrait mode 100% of the time or watching videos only. I can't imagine typing with and uneven backing, the only thing that would be somewhat comfortable is if it had a onscreen keyboard then it would be easier to type and less of a problem yet still annoying. |

QUOTE]I orderd the seidio extentded battery last week I just got it today around 1130 am chicago time. So so far it seems to work a lot better. I've turned on wifi, gps, bluetooth and raised the screen brightness its keeping up with the browsing and downloads. It came fully charged from them, the instructions say to fully charge it for at least 8hrs. I haven't charged fully yet I will more on video and playing music later. For those who think it will be hard to type with the thicker back its no big deal. I admit its rather ugly looking but I bought this phone for function & not looks. I will deal with its fat look. I finished watching a movie on this phone with still 2/3 of a battery left. The instructions says that by 5th or 6th full 8hr charge I will notice the diffrence but I notice a big diff already. I will post with a better review later.

Most of the time I can get thru the day on one charge, but for times when I think I might be using the G1 heavily and might run out of juice, I take along my Motorola P790 portable cell charger to juice up my G1.
No way am I adding a fatter batt that makes the G1 thicker and heavier. Besides, I use a rubberized snap-on case for protection, so my case wouldn't fit over a brickerized G1. |
