Default Help with rooting MyTouch w/purchased apps, corporate account and exchange email

Okay...I've literally researched this for hours on end, but can't pull the trigger because I haven't seen any threads on any android board that speak to my concerns, so I thought i'd ask here and HOPE somebody can help.

My main concern is that rooting MyTouch will erase my purchased apps, somehow get me in trouble because the phone is purchased through a corporate account and that rooting could mess up my exchange email setup (I'm using a purchased app called Touchdown).

To give you a bit of background....after researching this out one saturday, I was about to attempt rooting my phone so I backed up my apps on the phone, AND copied the backup to my PC hard drive....the whole partitioning of my phone's drive confused me. I wasn't sure if its already partitioned or if I need to partition it...AND if i do partition it, what that's going to accomplish.

Also, I'm not sure if when I root and if I have to copy the backup apps from my hard drive to the phone if the licenses I've paid for will still be valid? I'm not sure where the license files are even kept or if they're contained in the .apk ? Honestly, the only purchased apps I'm concerned about is the Touchdown app as it was expensive....all the others were $1 or $2.

Somebody on another site mentioned that if I root my phone a certain way, that the Market will still recognize my phone and I can re-download all my purchased apps without any issues (anybody know if that's true and how I can do that?)

Anyway, I'm usually shoot first ask questions later type, and I usually am not this careful....but with this being my work phone I really don't want to brick it....AND, my love for the MyTouch has been dwindling a bit lately because my phone is starting to really slow down....so if somebody could PLEASE help with this, I'd really appreciate it.

Oh...I've read the documenation at the xda forums, this forum and the various websites like unlocker.com, so a simple link to those sites won't necessarily help me....I need one of you experts to break this down for me in simpleton terms and clear up my doubts above if you can. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!

Once you purchase an app it is always redownloadable through the market. I have wiped my phone numerous times. Your purchased apps are tied to your gmail account and you can redownload them whenever you want.

Glad you chimed in, haven't rooted a MyTouch yet. Waiting for the new to wear off of my youngest grandsons phone.

$(&$(&*#@ I can't believe how easy that was!!!!!! I was way too worried about losing everything or screwing something up. Nope....that link above was extremely easy to follow and it was a breeze!!! Thank you ahugo68 for sharing that link!

The only issue I had was with the "latest" version of FlashRec (1.1.3)....I couldn't figure out the instructions because they seemed to infer that FlashRec would preload a URL...and 1.1.3 just had a blank space for the url to be type in. So I downloaded FlashRec 1.1.2 and sure enough the url was preloaded. I used it and it was easy after that.
