maybe a stupid question, but here goes. on this site, when i click android market, i click an app and it usually takes me to the developers website for the download. will the market be like this? or is it simply easier to download from cell? i was just hoping for a market where everything can be downloaded to pc for easier backup purposes.

you will download from your phone into your phone its that easy as far as backing stuff up im sure all your apps you download will be stored on to a google server that way if you ever lose your phone and get a replacement one you will be able to redownload the same apps youve downloaded already so that way you wont have to pay for them all over again

i'm not sure how it exactly works either, but i would think that you should be able to downloaded the .exe file to your phone or computer for storage purposes

Handango will have something like that. They plan to have about 100 apps available on launch date (to be disclosed), but developers were allowed to start loading their apps already (On Oct 1.)- Check the entire article HERE

sidekicks are very heavily server side based, meaning that the sidekick depends on the sidekick servers in order to do pretty much anything... just a quick list for people not in the know of sidekicks and the sidekick unlimited plan from t-mobile

this is without the sidekick service with your sidekick:

    - text message names do not display, just the number
    - on the newer sidekicks, it won't tell you that you have a new message
    - can't get to the download catalog
    - can't get to t-zones
    - get instant message
    - all your photos and contacts stored on the device get deleted if you discharge your battery or reset the phone

the list goes on... seeing as how its so heavily dependent on servers, as well being synced with them consistently, i highly doubt the G1 or any android phone will work off of this system... its true that the market itself can have a history of what you downoaded (like handango), but it'll be completely a coin toss to see whats gonna go down.

thanks for clearing that up vince. i've been wondering about it for the past couple of days. i have a winmo phone now and have a dvd full of apps i've downloaded over the years. i'd like to do the same with android. but if i have to transfer the executables to my pc from storage card, i guess that's not a big deal, seeing as how we can use sd as mass storage.
