sleep mode and the case/pouch

can/is the G1 put into sleep mode when it is put into a case like say my Blackberry that im giving up? I have the horizontal t mobile case with the magnets in to so it tells the BB to go to sleep. The specs of the G1 are very close to the BB pearl case i have so i am going to try and use it. if the phone doesn't sleep will the magnets hurt the G1??

Thoughts ideas?

The G1 does not have that kind of hardware. But I have seen an application that will put it in sleep mode when it in a certain position for X amount of time.

ok well it looks like i will be taking the magnets out of the pouch if it will truly fit the case.

umm what? I doubt the pouch is going to have magnets in it if the hardware of the phone does not support that feature...

HUH? Not sure how you could have gotten that out of what I said....The Blackberry Curve (at least I think its the Curve) has magnets inside its standard case that magnetize 2 small metal plates on the back of the Curve when its in the case. This tells the Curve that its night night time. I'm simply saying that this does not exist on the G1. I'm sure there will be a screen shutoff setting and I have to believe that if there wasn't we would have heard about it by now.

i was talking about my case/pouch that i am using for my BB pearl. Not the case that comes with the G1. I wont be using the G1 case.
