Wow that looks sexy. How hard is it to apply that? Bc I want it but I have a hard time applying screen protectors .
Goodbye BestSkinsEver and hello PhantomSkinz. I originally ordered the PhantomSkinz (from their website..just add a .com) skin for my wifes Samsung Behold and was blown away by how smooth the skin was yet it was just as thick as the skin that i had on my G1. I wrote the nice guys at PhantomSkinz and let them know how impressed I was with it and they sent me one to sample and here's what i think.
The package comes with 2 skins which i think is a promo they are running until the middle of January which is kind of cool in case you screw up which i did. I tried to perform the install the same way i installed my BSE skins and that's where i went wrong. On my 2nd attempt i read the instructions and tried it out. I got a bowl of warm water, set the skin inside the bowl for a minute, wet my hands and went to work. Everything else was pretty much the same as applying other skins.
Now that it's completely done im very pleased with the results. The BSE skin had too many pieces and everytime i handled the phone i could feel the corners everytime. There is one benefit though to having so many pieces and that is that it makes the install believe it or not quite a bit easier. On the flip side with the fewer larger pieces it makes the phone feel real smooth and gives it a more complete appearance.
My only issue was making sure everything lined up properly on the sides of the screen.
One thing i didnt really care for with BSE is that once the skin was applied, all of the buttons felt recessed. PhantomSkinz comes with small pieces cut out to fit the menu button, as well as pieces cut for the Call, Back, End Call, and Home buttons, and even ones for the USB and Memory covers.
Oh and quite possiblly one of the best things is the corner coverage on the back. I thought BSE corners were good, but these are even better.
Oh and just to be fair and unbiased, i went out and actually purchased a set of my own as a backup ($24.95). I didnt want you guys to think i was praising them because i got it for free. Im merely giving credit where credit is due and trying to show you guys that these guys are definite players in the skins market.
enjoy the pics. Let me know if you want me to post different angles.
this shows "orange peel on the back". Mind you i had to shoot it at this angle in order to capture it at all and it feels completely smooth
you can barely see any "orange peel" on the front especially on the screen
i didnt install the skin for the memory slot. Just being lazy i guess.
i used the dime just to show how small the gap is in the corners

The install itself is pretty easy as long as you take your time but im not going to lie, I took my time with it but it took around an hour and 30 minutes. The good news is that if you mess up you can lift it up (wet your hands first) and apply again just be sure to not get fingerprints or dust/lint in doing so. I did the install in the bathroom with the shower running that way the humidity would prevent any dust from flying around.
That is sweet! How many pieces did it come with 3 or 4? and I heard it collects alot of dust, are you experiencing that also?

this is a layout that comes with the skins.
It has one large back piece that has a separate skin for the camera and it has a hole punched in it so that it doesnt interfere with the lense. If you look closely at one of the pics i posted you can see what im talking about.
Lets see it has a piece for the USB, Memory slot, 4 buttons, 1 menu button then theres one piece for the chin, one large piece for the outside of the screen, then one screen protector made out of the same material.
Oh and as far as dust from what i can tell its about the same as my old skin which didnt collect that much dust/lint. But... i do keep my phone inside of the pouch that it came with instead of letting it sit in my pocket.
Is the dust and pock-marks in the shots under/in the skin or all just from floating in the air?
Honestly even looking past that it looks really great - best install I've seen for sure.
Looks to be air particles that landed, but would like to know.
Thanks.
dont like the ripples on the back..
My BSE has been driving me crazy. The corners are starting to peel up, and all the lint and pocket stuff has been getting under them.
I think I'm going to order this and give it a try. I really like the way the corners are cut.
EDIT: I just checked the web sight. If you order 1 full body get you get a SCREEN ONLY protector for free. (Unless I read something wrong)
