I believe from my source the phone will come with an apadtor from usb to 3.5mm
I would like to buy a USB/3.5mm adapter that includes support both for stereo earpieces AND microphone. I see the following products in the store here, but none of them mention the microphone support:
http://store.androidcommunity.com/co...2-45--2373.htm
http://store.androidcommunity.com/co...2-45--2810.htm
Anyone know if these products support the microphone? If not, does anyone know where to get such a thing?
TIA,
Reg

It will not come on the initial shipping units, but will come later according to Engadget: "Update: We were told by T-Mobile reps that an ExtUSB to 3.5mm adapter would be included with the phone to allow for the use of regular earbuds / headphones, but that adapter wouldn't make it into the first shipments due to production constraints."

So if you preordered the phone don't expect it to have the adapter, probably it will have it later on.
As for whether the adapter supports microphones, I don't know.
Well my source hasnt been wrong yet. Very reliable. Maybe this is true with the stores only as they arent preordered and will have the adaptor. Im willing to bet you can go to any tmobile store after the release date and they will give you one or will contact customer care and have them send you out one.
Thanks, jterry, but that is not exactly what I had in mind. With the mic on the adapter, I suspect it would be in my pocket much of the time. Certainly it would not be close to my mouth.
What I'm looking for is one with four contacts in the barrel connector, one for ground and one each for left, right and mic. I did a little searching around the internet regarding the Seidio that I linked, but all the sites seem to have the same description, with no mention of the microphone contacts. I wish they would say, one way or the other.
I've bought other Seidio products with the four-band barrel, but you cannot tell on this one since the barrel is the female end.
Other thoughts?

Please someone answer this question please. It would be very convenient to have to use only 1 adapter
found it on ebay. not exactly what you are talking about but this would serve the purpose...

You have a very good request. I'm thinking will it be created over time.
Could I use an adapter without a microphone built in for my stereo earphones and use the microphone on the G1 handset for calls, or do I have to use an adapter with a microphone built in?
