this indicates the transfer speed in MB's
so a 8gig class 6 card will be faster then say a 8gig class 2 card. but of course you pay for the faster one.
i picked up a sandisk 8gig SHDC class2 for $24 bucks at amazon. its good enough for the G1.
By the way SHDC means "Secure Digital High Capacity", cards of this type are 2gig and above and able to be formatted as fat32.
