Just so you know, the magnet on your case is going to affect the compass in the G1

There has been lots of talk about this, and some people say it affects it and some say it doesn't. Considering that the official HTC case has a magnet on it im not to worried about it.

That's a nice case. I have 2 now and my 1st one really threw off the compass but it had a long magnet. I ordered a second one with 2 smaller magnets and it affects it much less. I can assure you that the magnet does affect the case. I think HTC hasn't gotten around to admit so. I did 2 hard resets to get it to work but as soon as I used the initial case then it messed it up again.

I returned a leather case, after my compass stopped working.

I had my G1 for about six weeks prior to getting the case, and never had an issue with the compass. Within five minutes of using the case, compass froze, and would NOT work.

After exchanging the case, and spending about 20 minutes tapping the G1, rebooting, etc., compass came back and hasn't failed since.

If you don't need the compass, don't worry 'bout it. If you DO like using the compass, you'll have problems unless it's a VERY small magnet.

Please post pictures, DNA samples, and proof of purchase.. please...and no, magnets dont mess up the G1.. They assume it does.. but it's not proven.. I have one myself. i have never used that thing only for showing off to family and friends..

I have a small case that fits my G1 perfectly...I tried using it for a day...then remembered that hip cases are the new pocket protector, so it went back in the nightstand drawer.

After years of carrying expensive cell phones I have trained myself that nothing but my phone ever goes in my right front pocket.
