Yes, class 4 will be sufficient, I found a decent deal on a class six, which would be a bit faster.. but it seems the it is much easier to find the class 4's

It is OK. I have a class 4 in my 8100 BlackBerry. I upgraded (upgrade in size, downgrade in speed) from a 4GB class 6 card to the 8GB class 4 and I could tell the difference when doing my initial transfer of 6GBs. The class 4, 8GB, card was easily 25% of the speed of my class 6, 4GB, card. Once you get that initial transfer out of the way though, it's virtually unnoticeable.

I think i might have to grab a new MicroSD, i bought a 4gb on Amazon for $5. Then i read a post here about classes, i didn't know they had different classes so i went and looked up the model number and it turns out its a class 2! I feel dumb, i am in the IT field and didn't know they classed these things!

    Not bad..
I just found that Radio Shack sells the sandisk 8gb class 4 for $25.. I think they sale the 16gb for about $75..

I paid $35 for my 8gb class 6, but its A-Data not Sandisk.. Personally, I do not know if the brand makes any difference..

I just ordered a 4gb class 6 for like $17.75 shipped! Amazon has a pretty decent selection of MicroSD cards...its not Sandisk though.

I don't know if you guys already know, but Zipzoomfly has the A-DATA 8 gig Class 6 MicroSDHC for 25.99 plus (7.28 shipping) = 33.27 total.

It's the best deal I've found for a 8 gig class 6 thus far. They also have bill-me-later as a payment option.

When I ordered mine, it said "limited quantities - 20 left". You guys may want to jump on that ASAP.

    hi all

so I guess im kind of a loser because I pre ordered a G1 this last weekend. most people here are in the "I cant wait till the 22nd" group and im the guy in the back of the line now.. oh well.

I have a couple of questions about micro sd. lots has changed as I have not bought a new phone in 2 years and then the 1gb micro sd for my dash was .. well lots more than it is now but lots of things have changed sense then. soo.

    1) how much micro sd memory will the G1 support? I have heard 8 and 16.. will this be true on the day of release?

    2) I see lots of talk about class rating with reguard to micro sd.. can someone explain the differences?

    3) I bought a 4gb micro sd card for like 15 bucks a few weeks a go. when I tried to read it on my vista and xp machines they all but locked up. I was told that I needed a high capacity reader? if I get a 8gb card for the G1 and I want to take out the card and pop it into my computer( which I do alot becasue I find it easyer than syncing) will I need a high capacity card reader?

    thanks for your time
    peace
