Thumbs up HTC portable battery charger

looks like t-mobile.com and tmo stores are now starting to get portable external batteries (chargeable by a usb cable or HTC mini usb charger) that hold a nice big charge and then you can plug it into your HTC device and of course, G1, for juice on the go. i dont know all the 'specs' but i heard about it at a store here and it looks to be just a bit smaller than a deck of cards. even a charge led meter to see how much juice there is.

    its like 25 or 30 i think.

its not something you attach to the phone but something you hook up to the phone to juice it up when a wall charger or car adapter is not available.

Get a standard small usb plug car charger and carry a usb cable from any bit of electronics and you're fine. Unless you're going to be away from a source of electricity for days.

it would be useful at the airport if all of the outlets are taken up, or on the actual airplane. Or if you're stuck somewhere and need an emergency battery boost.

I've tryed to find some spec's on this HTC Portable Battery Charger, But couldn't find any information on it. The only thing T-Mobile say's about the Portable Charger is...

    Name: HTC Portable Battery Charger

    Description: ·Portable back-up battery charger
·Built-in battery tester button with battery level LED indicator
·Includes carrying pouch and Usb-A to Usb mini B cable.

I just saw this on the t-mobile web site. I could really use a portable charger for the train and whatnot.

This one looks slightly bulkier, and uses AA batteries and claims 5 full charges, which depends on the device, obviously. http://www.boxwave.com/products/batteryadapter/

So I wonder how many charges you would get with the HTC charger. The HTC looks better, and it looks like it itself can be charged via USB, but the Boxwave one can probably handle more charge time, and AA batteries are everywhere.

I bought one of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16875994007

It works fine, very thin, light and handy. Gives me a full charge and a little extra. About the size of an ipod nano.

I got my HTC battery charger yesterday in the mail. It's very light, small, and looks good. However, I only get one full charge from the thing (charging while the phone was on, and I had 3g going but I wasn't using the phone).

I think I'm going to return it and get one of the Boxwave AA battery chargers instead, since my lady and I travel a bit, and we have a digital camera, an iPhone, an iPod, and my G1.
