how many songs should 6 gigs of memory store?

i have an 8 gig memory card minus 1.4 ext 2 that leaves me 6 gigs of memory for my songs and stuff.

so how many songs would theoretically fit in the card?

my memory card is running out of space and i dont think i have that much music

ok so the count is around 360 if i include the 5 songs from the doom soundtrack
thats not including the sounds of doom though cuz those are just like 1 sec tracks

well, assuming that the average song is like 3 mb, you should be able to get about 1500 songs.

ok so well leave it at around 1000.......so why am i only getting around 400? wth i dont have alot of pics on my sd card!

Depends on the bit rate, which does effect the file size.

At the current moment in time this is not possible as SDHC is artificially limited at 32 Gb max. Here is part of a wiki on the SDHC (SD 2.0) format:

SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity, SD 2.0) is an extension of the SD standard that appeared in June 2006.[15] SDHC allows standard-compliant capacities in excess of 4 GB. SDHC cards are often formatted with the FAT32 file system.[16] It uses the same physical and electrical form factor as SD, but the SD 2.0 standard in SDHC uses a different memory addressing method (sector addressing vs byte addressing), thus theoretically reaching a maximum capacity of up to 2 TB (2048 GB). Currently the SD Card association has artificially defined the maximum limit of SDHC capacity to 32 GB[17], however the SD card specification states that "SD Memory Cards with a capacity greater than 32 GB will be available with updated versions of [the specification]."[18] SDHC cards work only in SDHC compatible devices, but standard SD cards work in both SD and SDHC devices. The SDHC trademark is licensed to ensure compatibility.[19]

Though with SDXC coming out sometimes I worry that we'll never see an extension of the SD 2.0 standard.
