T-Mobile already sells a shell for the phone that will allow it to stand up on its own. You can find it at any corporate T-Mobile stores, and its only 10 bucks.

Thanks to those of you that actually read the post in the first place.

I don't like the self-standing shell idea as I slide my phone onto my hip holster already and don't need another accessory to keep popping my G1 into and out of. So from that perspective the desktop cradle idea came about.

But I've got one even better, as of yesterday I spent an hour on a new G1 accessory project which forked off of this one so the desktop cradle is no more....

Now it's a car cradle in my Bimmer's center console. An idea born, now evolved!

I'll try to take some pics of that soon creating a new post when I can and then linking to it from this one...
