Does HTC 3-in-1 work with normal 3.5mm headphones?

I bought one of these from the sites store:

When I got it, I did plug it into my phone and charger to at least verify that it did charge. Today I tried hooking up a standard pair of non-microphone earbuds with a 3.5mm adapter.

I couldn't get any sound. So I tried hooking up the headset that came with the phone with the in-line mic. Those worked...but I hate them.

Am I supposed to be able to use any standard non-mic 2.5mm or 3.5mm earbuds with this thing....or does it have to be one with an in-line mic?

Or did I just get a bum one?

You may have not plugged your 3-1 adapter all the way in to the plug at the bottom of the phone. I've had instances where the cover for the plug was in the way...stopping the adapter from being fully seated in the phone. Any 3.5mm headphones will work w/ the adapter.

I have read that the 3-1 adapter does not work with android 1.5 (cupcake), but I have not gotten any legitimate confirmation on this issue.

I can confirm it doesn't work. Well I take that back..... You can get it to work but it is a pain in the ass.

Can you listen to music while charging with that thing? If so ill get me one since I drive out of state frequently. Will it ever work with cupcake?

Currently w/ 1.1 i can listen to music w/ my 3.1mm headphones and charge at the same time.

i actually purchased a plantronics stereo bluetooth headset in hopes that we would get the ota 1.5 update a few weeks ago.

Ah...that may be my issue. I'll try it on my wife's G1....it's still on the stock RC33 software.

Yep...that was it. It works fine on her phone. Hope that issue gets corrected for the OTA update.
