First off there isn't a compass in a traditional sense in this thing. It is a combination of gps/cell tower location and an accelerometer, no compass. Magnets I suppose could mess with the accelerometer but I don't know the mechanics of it so I can't say but I doubt it. I have an HTC case with magnetc latches and I have zero issues.
Well, thank you for bringing this up. A friend made a similar observation when I shared my plans. I've made a case for my G1 (that hangs around the neck or for when I am walking, etc. and was going to use a magnetic clasp but will do velcro instead (tacky - but practical).
ASUS eee Pad Transformer en route!! T-mobile G2 in hand, N1 on loan to my daughter. G1 on ice.
Yes, precious...my Transformer is almost here...now if only T-mobile would roll out Gingerbread for my G2 already!!
hit maps ... hit menu button .... hit street view ....select your location ..... hit the adress or photo that pops up .....wait for the picture .... hit menu botton again .....hit compass mode mine was set to it default .
He doesn't have a source. He's wrong. The G1 does have a compass. This is a very well-established fact, has been for months and months. It's in all the print literature, and on every website, and it is just plain and simply a fact.
