    Question Case over skin

I was wondering if anyone has put a designer skin (a la Skin-it) on their G1 and then put a hard, clear case over that.

I know everyone has their own opinions about whether each is good or not and whether each is necessary or not, but I would just like to know if it's possible. I don't want to spend the money on both just to find out that the skin makes the phone too fat to fit into the case.

    Thank you for your input,

Well i actually never put a skin on G1 yet but i did put some skin it on my other phones.
And yes u can put a skin it design on ur put then put a case on it, but if im u, i rather go for a skin it design, then put a invisible shield (http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/...ns-shields.php) on it, that would be perfect.
Correct me if im wrong because i never do that before, just invisible shield is on my G1 and it good into now (dropp couple times and keep freak out my friend when i scartch my keys on G1 to show them ^^)

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure about all of those invisible skin things... I'm quite bad about putting stickers on in the first place. I was only thinking about the skin-it because it looked simple.

My husband has a clear case on his Motorola WM40 (I think that's what it's called...) and I quite like the effect of it, that's why I was thinking about it.

I might get the skin-it one first and then ask at a T-Mobile store to try out the case to see if I like it... I'm just not sure...

Did you really have to let the invisible shield skin dry for a whole day before you could use the phone? I would hate not having it for that long...

    Thanks again,

I'm stuck in the same exact dilemma.

I just ordered 3 skins from uniqueskins.com for my g1 earlier today.

My original plan was to put the clear case over it but I wasnt sure if it would be too fat or not either, hopefully someone can let us know.

The invisible skin over the other skin sounds like a good plan as well.
I would like to do that but 2 things are preventing me right now.
First of all, the first skin has a high gloss finish, would the invisible skin stick to it?

Second of all, would another layer of skin even be necessary? The first layer is scratch proof already so im not too sure about that. However, I kinda like the idea of protecting the first layer so it lasts longer.

I'm still not sure about the invisible skin deal, and if you have to get it wet to use it, I think there would be a chance of messing up the stickiness of the first layer.

I will have to see what happens when I put my skin-it on there... I don't think I will be getting a case before that, in case it won't go over it.

I would like to see some of the options in person, but I don't know anyone else with a G1, so that's not really an option... then again, I could go to a T-Mo store and see if any of the employees have a skin on theirs... or not...

I'm the least decisive person in the world, I don't know what I'm going to do, yet...

I'll post here if and when I decide on anything... I'll be getting the skin in February sometime if I get one... I'm trying to plan ahead some...

Thanks for posting, hopefully one of us will have an answer for the other...

I'm going to ask them if I can do just that.

Let me know what you end up with...

Alrighty, latest info on my side...
    zagg responded to the email!

In regards to your email, you can still install the invisibleSHIELD on top of the unique skin. However, I cannot guarantee that the invisibleSHIELD will last as long being installed on a different surface than your device. The invisibleSHIELD could peel a little faster this way.
They do have a lifetime warranty though. You should be able to send in your skin for a new one whenever it gets worn down.

I emailed back just to make sure, but i'm like 90% sure that its chill.

I still dont know if its a good idea though.

Thanks so much, I will definitely look into that. The lifetime warrantee is good to know about, too.
