Default Car Kit - Here's what I want...

Given the lack of A2DP (or even the dream of ERD) Bluetooth audio is not an option. I want wired sound.

Here's what I want in a car kit:

    12v Cigarette lighter adapter input.
3.5 mm Aux Out for audio output.
    Mic in for speakerphone use.

Anyone make such a thing? i know all the wiring is there since it's all there in the wired headset setup. I'd love to have something that just sat in my car and plugged into my USB port on the G1.

So far I've found a 3.5mm out with USB which works great for charging and playing back music, but I've love to have the speakerphone mic addition as well..

If you get one of those 2-in-one or 3-in-1 adapters that has the charge input and 3.5mm stereo plug. If you went with a headunit that has bluetooth and an AUX input. You'd have to control your media from your phone and charge it from your cig plug. But you'd have more wires.

Or What if you went with a Headunit that has bluetooth and usb connection (may need to be an additional addon between the 2 functions). With that configuration you are able to accept calls from the headunit through the bluetooth, and with the USB conncetion you can charge your phone (possibly just a trickel charge) and the Headunit can select and play your media from your SD card (unconfirmed functionallity). This option may cost more than the 1st.

Either way you can use the bluetooth in the future when the phone actually gets stereo bluetooth.

Yeah, my car doesn't have a bluetooth stereo head, and since it's a limited edition Mini Cooper GP, I don't want to go changing it or messing with it. As well even "stereo" bluetooth such as A2DP lacks in quality that wired audio provides. I'd just rather see everything wired.

So far I've found this :
    http://www.elitextreme.com/oemhtcmuauca1.html

Which breaks the following out of the USB port:
    Mini USB power connector
3.5mm audio connector (with in-line mic support)
2.5mm audio connector (with in-line mic support)

It's made by HTC (manufacturer of the G1) and says it works with the G1.

Now I just need to find a good noise canceling microphone that will connect to the 2.5mm audio in connector that I can put in the dash or center console and I should be set.

I dont believe you can just plug a mic to one of those plugs. You'll need some sort of an adapter. I'm not exactly sure if you can find a cable that can split the audio out and the mic input. Moreso those plugs are meant to be used with a headset with the mic already built in line of the headset cable.

Then your only other option is to get a bluetooth handsfree kit installed into your car. It can be used without removing the factory radio may have the sound going through the factory speakers or through a seprate speaker (depending on the kit and installation). If you want direct connect audio, the best way would be to see if you can get an auxillary adapter for your factory radio. Otherwise a direct wired fm modulator (NOT wireless) could be use as an audio input.

I'm reasonably sure that's what the 2.5mm Mic in is, either way, I'll give it a whirl once I get it and see what it'll do.

Well that's how I interpret it when it says its an audio connector with in-line mic support.
I guess it doesnt hurt to try.

I had my Universal set up with power, mic and speakers hard wired in. When I switched to the G1 I got the adapter for the G1 but it does not support the Mic. Tried plugging the Mic into the usb and the 3.5
