bluetooth currently will not work, an 11 pin to 3.5mm adapter plugged into aux will work
I have mp3 music as well as streaming radio on my G1 that I would like to be able to play through my car speakers. My car has bluetooth telephone capability as well as an aux jack.
Any ideas?

The supplied adapter with the later shipped g1's works perfectly for the aux input on my head unit.
You are golden with that.
Even if the phone had A2DP (Stereo Bluetooth), most car Bluetooth kits only transmit the audio during a phone call (e.g. established handsfree/carkit phone call), so in general the answer is NO.
Now if your car kit has an Aux input then do as suggested above with an adapter.
For down the road: Once A2DP support makes its way either into a future firmware or a future handset you could use an A2DP receiver on your aux input and do it wirelessly (I've done this on my Audi MMI system and it works well with the Nokia phone I have that supports A2DP)
i got old skool and use a headphone jack to tape adapter in my cars. the girlfriend has an aux port which works even better.
a word of advice: get the htc 3 in 1 adapter so you can charge the phone while playing music/using GPS or whatnot. On my road trip sunday i forgot my car charger and was playing music through imeem, fully charged phone died by 3 pm
I do everyday using an FM transmitter...works great.![]()
I use my G1 to play music in both our cars-
the newer car has an AUX jack and that works great- just have to get the stupid usb to 1/8" plug adapter (the stupidest idea EVER from HTC)
anyway you really want to use a cord- FM trnsmitting or bluetooth is gonna degrade the sound quality. I'm picky about sound, so I always use a cord. The sound off the G! is actually quite good- better than my samsung T10 MP3 player in fact.
The G1 seems to have plenty of gain to it- which is helpful.
In the other car, theres no aux jack, so I use the tape deck to cord converter. This works fine as well, although you need to pull to volume down on the G1 a bit, as that method of input is a bit "hot"
Either way it sounds great, just wish I could move Rhapsody to go tracks over w/o having to convert them.
Using the adapter works great if you have an aux like I do, using imeem of course is utilizing 3g so its gonna suck the battery, but I took a road business trip from orange county to san francisco not too long ago and the battery performed wonderfully plaaying music that was stored on my sd card.... about a 6 hour trip there and 6 hour trip back and my phone lasted most the day, id say about 10 hours of that drivetime without a charge while still texting and making sparse phone calls throughout the day.... left 6 am, got there around noon, left around 8 o'clock and had to plug in car charger around 11.... this is with the standard 1150mah battery supplied with the phone so needless to say I'm somewhat satisfied with the battery thus far
Buy the rumor, Sell the news.
One note about streaming from Imeem- its a cool service for sure, but it will suck battery as you need 3G or wifi, and also, the quality of the sound is definitely compromised- the tracks are heavily compressed and wont sound as good as properly ripped MP3's or CD
I might want to get the 2 in 1 adapter. Works a little better possibly?
