'Batteries are holding back the portable revolution,' says the CEO of a firm that's developing an answer: a pocket-size fuel cell.

I think it's a great idea but at $200-$300, I think I'd rather travel with various chargers...

I would rather buy another G1.....
The article says:
"The biggest challenge for Lilliputian's engineers was finding a way to insulate the fuel-cell semiconductor and contain the heat thrown off by the chemical reaction. The Lilliputian fuel cell operates at 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit (800 Celsius)".
Who wants to carry around a miniature nuclear reactor in their pocket.
WITHOUT WISDOM, KNOWLEDGE IS USELESS.
I don't think charging is such a burden. I charge my phone every night, while I'm sleeping. No big deal. I do, however, miss the days of my nokia phones where I could charge them once a week. But that was back when all they did was text message and make calls, no internet, no video, no picture viewer, no mp3s, just call and text.
my phone now, with average use can last a few days...which i can live with; in the event i forget to plug it in overnight... in that case i throw it on USB charge at work or something
but yea, i could buy a charger for home, work, car, friends car, mom's house...etc all for under $200
I wonder how much an OLED screen would cut down on the power consumption.....
My phone has to be recharged daily, so it wont be a hassle for me. I just need to buy a car charger for the G1 because i have a feeling my battery will get low often.![]()
So the only times I can think that it would be useful would be if the power goes out (hey it happened here a couple weeks ago for a few days due to a freak windstorm) or camping. I've already decided if I can't unplug while camping I'll really need our AA group!
