    Talking accessory orgy

geekin' out on all the goodies i just snagged. here's what i have thus far...

clear case - at the T-Mobile stores, they sell a plastic case for $9.99. this is the only one i've seen that does not cover the SD card slot.

screen protectors - these are en route (i am going to cream if they actually arrive tomorrow, after only ordering them today)

usb > 3.5 dongle - this is what i will use when listening to music as if the G1 were my iPod; while i travel. it is simple and mono-purpose, which is what i want. i will not use this all the time.

car charger - i got the less-expensive one. this will power my G1 when in-use in my car as an iPod.

3-in-1 USB adapter - this is pretty sweet. you can see its purpose - charge, listen, data. i will keep this in my laptop bag when traveling.

8 GB SD (x2) - i got two of these from newegg for < $19 a piece!!! they sell @ the T-Mobile store for $39.99 - the same ones.

OEM (by HTC) battery - i found one on eBay from a reputable seller for $19.99 + free shipping...by searching for New OEM Battery For T-Mobile G1 Google HTC 1150mAh.

portable 4-use charger - the T-Mobile stores carry a little device that stores up to 4 charges, each of which can charge the G1's battery in 1 hour (per T-Mobile). i went back to buy one today and they were out. they will have more in this week. my battery life is FINE (6 AM - 11 PM) BUT, i travel for work sometimes and, honestly, it satisfies my inner-nerd. i will post more about this little device one i've had a chance to use it.

the only other hardware i can foresee and need/desire for, is a 32 GB SD card. i'll get one when the firmware update that supports it is available. anyone else got any goodies they just got or are waiting on? watcha usin'?

Why did you get both the 3-in-1 adapter and the USB to headphone jack adapter?

    Talking 'cause i'm a dork

the "1 to 1" will be when i am using it in my pocket, literally, in the airport or at times when it is behaving strictly as an iPod.

i got the "3 to 1" really, because i'm an excessive dork. i want to be able to connect it when i'm travelling for work, on the plane/in my hotel room and listen to music on it, while charging via USB. i can't even say i NEEEEEEDED it, but i'm rollin' so plush right now in accessories, i just love it.

    WOW!

Now I don't feel so bad about having 3 different phone cases/protectors

    1. Leather holster

    2. Body Glove case/holster with kickstand

    3. Rubberized case which covers the battery plate ( not bulky at all )

    2 things....

is the battery legit from ebay? not saying it shouldnt be, but i was looking into purchasing one off of there...

also you should look into getting a usb female A to usb male b.... that would allow any USB cord, like the ones that plug into the computer, to plug into your phone allowing phone to phone direct transfers if thats your twist...

well, some know how to shop on eBay and some don't. if it was from a seller with 80 feedback, nope. since this was from a reputable seller with 3,000+ feedback, it isn't possible for a seller such as he to sell impostor goods. i love me some nike dunks/sb's and same thing there - you don't buy from some seller with 100 feedback + 1 pic of the shoes - you buy from the dude that has his entire business at stake, thousands of feedback points, guarantees, paypal backing, etc.

the battery is by HTC - the exact same one you could buy anywhere by HTC, only not for retail. i will be able to provide you with 100% confirmation when the battery arrives this week. i'll take pics and everything and do side-by-sides as far as performance goes.

i love buying off of eBay and if one knows how to shop on there, you're fine. i almost encourage fake crap though as eBay and PayPal (bad for sellers, good for buyers) sides with the customer immediately, until provn otherwise. it's not my business and reputation at stake here, hence the self-policing community that is eBay. a seller with 3,000+ feedback isn't going to sell fake crap for fear of getting negative feedback. that is worth more than cash to sellers and some will let you keep items AND give you your money back, just so you won't leave negative feedback. shoot, sellers can't even LEAVE negative feedback anymore.

good call on the USB A to USB B cables vs. the mini. doubleokneegro's talkin' about the cables that pretty much any printer, external hard drive, etc. would use. the thing is, i have tons of digital cameras and portable 2.5" drives, that i already have a dozen of the mini usb cables. i will never be without one, at work, at home or on the road. still a good call kneegro.

    Thumbs up early x-mas

i got my goodies!!! i'm basking in accessory goodness! not 100% sold on the screen protectors BUT i do like the "rough" surface on them (i hate smooth surfaces, your thumb tends to skip). super easy to apply with ZERO bubbles - just doesn't even seem possible with these things. that being said, out around the edges of the protector it hasn't quite adhered the same way - you can see a difference. i'll toodle with it when i get home and see what can be done, but i'd rather have the "feel" and the protection.

glad i have the car charger now - in there, it will stay.

the usb > 1/8" will be used very soon.

the usb > 1/8"/usb/usb will also be used very soon.

glad to have both of those at my disposal. don't know how many people around me at work (with iPhones) said, "man, i wish mine accepted regular usb). suckers.

battery will be here this week and as soon as T-Mobile gets those 4:1 chargers in (should be this week), i'm going to run up there and snag one.

i didn't buy all of these things because the G1 can't keep a charge, quite the contrary. the G1 keeps a charge ALL DAY LONG. i'm just a nerd and i work for a technology company. i like being "prepared" and covered when it comes to all things tech.

MAD PROPS to Android Community Store for getting these things here TODAY! i ordered them yesterday morning at 10:30 AM!!! granted, we're both in Florida.

honestly, i've been fine with lint-free cloths and, well, my t-shirt too. the screen is flawless and i applied the protectors w/ zero issues - no bubbles, no nothin'.

let me know what you think about the appearance once you have one on. i do like the feel of it quite a bit - much more traction underneath my thumb. i like that it is keeping my screen as slick as it was the day i purchased it. it's just a little "crumbly" looking. i have NO PROBLEM overlooking that for what i get out of this device though.

note - i've been working as an IT professional for 10 years and any serious tech i know, laughs when someone says, "hey, what should i clean my screen with?" a dry cloth or a damp (with water) and then a dry cloth, if you need to remove smudges, crumbs, etc. the chemical sprays always seem to leave sooommmmething behind.
