Is there any movement on this?

If I can't use my Google Apps login, there's no point me getting a G1.

Okay, it's possible to use Android with a GAFYD account. But GAFYD services only include Mail, Calendar, Docs, Chat, Sites, Start and Web Pages. What about all Google's other services? How would you use those with Android? For example, I use Google Reader a lot in a separate Google account. Where would I stand? FYI - I attempted to merge my GAFYD account and Google account to a degree. I deleted the Gmail service from my Google account so that I now login using a secondary address that matches my GAFYD email address.

Just picked up a g1 at costco last eve, and was able to, with some difficulty, to get GAFYD working reasonably well.

This site has the proper incantation.

I had no problem signing in on my G1 with a GAFYD account. Worked exactly the same as standard Gmail account. The "other Google apps" concern is not a real concern at this time since Reader is not a native Android app. I can sign in to the mobile version of Reader with a different Gmail account without any problem.

I just did this. Been toying with the notion for a long time, but was afraid of the factory wipe. but when I got root, I realized a wipe isn't so bad after all. Now I have push email for my domain! NICE. I'm gonna enjoy this.

Has anyone else noticed that with Google for Domain and the G1, calendars other than the main one do not work? If you try to add an event from the phone, the drop down only contains the main calendar?

Very nice to hear you got it all working, but can annyone explain HOW he did it?

I'm a google apps user, with my own domain, I'm sick and tyred of stupid buggy HTC/windows mobile, I'm considering a G1. But I'ts worthless for me if I can't use my email for the domain...

I've downloaded to SDK for the phone, to see if I could set up the google-apps domain mail, but I can't seem to get it going!

Can annyone who got it working tell the exact steps? Thanks in advance!

You can't test if it works in the emulator since it doesn't require that you activate using your gmail. Apps for domain logins work. Try logging into other Google services with it. I personally just had to go to another google service and then create a Google account using myusername@mydomain.com e-mail. After that I can use any Google service with it.

Just an update for those who do not know the answer:

You have to have the admin for your domain set up "mobile" access (from the dashboard) before you can fully use your domain account.
