That's pretty awesome. I'll have to check it out. I love apps like that.... Can't really see a purpose, but to know the technology is there and play with it.
I just released a new app called "What Color?" on the market. Simply point the camera at an object and it gives you the basic color name, along with RGB, HSV, CMYK, and HTML coded.
You can also snap the picture to view in static mode. Touch anywhere on a static picture to get a color name. In this mode, there are over 1600 color names. You can also zoom in and out, scroll around, and adjust brightness, saturation, and color balance.

It is designed with color blind people in mind, but it is still fun to play with even if you aren't color blind, especially in static mode (there are a lot of funky color names)
i remember an art student or designer on this forum wanted this

Sorry, no lite version. I may make one in the future (live mode/basic color name only), but as of right now just the paid version. I'm relying on people being able to refund it within 24 hours (Google policy) to make sure they like it.

Great job. Beat me to it (like usual). Is there a way to calibrate this app to a color swatch so that you can get more exact color matches. This would be perfect for interior designers trying to match paint colors or other furnishings.
When viewing static pictures, you can adjust the color levels by moving a slider. You can adjust red, green, and blue sliders until the picture looks normal on screen. You can also adjust saturation. In the future I plan on improving the color correction, since most pictures end up either orange or blue, depending on the lighting.
When working with the live mode, there is no way (as far as I know) to apply a color filter to the camera preview. Without being able to see the correction live I think it would be more confusing than helpful.
