Default What Additives? 1.0 - review

What Additives? 1.0 – a pocket wizard for a healthy diet

There is now more to Android shopping-apps than wow-factor barcode-scanners or memo-lists for distracted husbands. If you want a shopping not only quicker and cheaper but also healthier, What Additives? turns your mobile into a pocket wizard, helping you decode the incomprehensible labels on the food you buy at the supermaket.

Behind the digits of the so called "E-Numbers" may lurk unexpected surprises - good or not that nice.Simply vitamins or inappropriate for children preservatives and colourants - What Additives? offers a light and swift way to find out.

User interface is quite simplified and tuned so that reaching the most important data for every one of the hundreds additives is achieved in two or three touches at screen or keys on your mobile. This allows users not only to get some info about goods already bought, but actually compare products on-the-fly while shopping.

What exactly can What Additives? tell you:

    - of course, the number and name of the additive
    - type by use (colour, preservative, emulsifier and so on)
    - evaluation of its impact on children
    - general consumer warning – whether or not it is worth focusing some attention on the safety of the product
    - some additional info on contents, origin and specific features

Depending on screen-orientation of your mobile What Additives? makes use of two interface layouts:
    – a portrait mode – with an accent on information detail and
    – a landscape mode - with an accent on ease and speed of use

Reference information and assessments of health impact of this long list of chemical compounds are compiled from numerous public sources. Whether they are based on scientific research or legislative regulations - they remain conditional and are intended for personal reference only. There is no commonly established register of food additives worldwide - so each and every country authorities and businesses decide what's "good" or "bad" on their own - so conflicting data on some substances' effects are not uncommon.

Anyway, it's up to everyone's own care to compose a safe and healthy diet - it's all about getting this choice better and better informed.

    Bon Appétit!
