    Default Well Slingbox Users...

Seems like we have an "unofficial" confirmation that Sling Media is going to go ahead and develop a mobile app for the android OS. Seeing how long it's taking the slingplayer for the iphone to come out, it probably won't be anytime soon that we will be able to sling to our G1's, but at least we know it will be coming (again, patience). At least webOS looks like it's gonna be out of luck See the posts made below by Sling developer MegaZone:

"At this time we have not officially announced any development for Android or webOS, but we’re keeping an eye on both of them. Android seems to be the next logical platform, looking at the overall market, and Sling reps have talked about it a few times. I believe some have gone as far as to say it is our next platform, but I won’t since we haven’t made any announcements. The kind of support we’re seeing through the OHA is very promising, and if even some of the announced devices and partners come to market it will be a strong player."

"There has to be a business justification to invest the resources in developing the client. The next logical platform is Android, which we're already taking a strong look at. Unlike webOS, Android already has multiple announced devices with commitments from several major device makers for even more, with carriers lined up world-wide. Remember that from our point of view it is the intersection of users with the platform *and* a Slingbox who are also interested in using SPM. Engineering resources aren't free, so there has to be some return on investment."

    Regarding the Pre:
"As has been pointed out, the actual development information hasn’t been released yet so it is premature to be talking about development. From what we have seen it looks like webOS is an all-new environment, so it would need an all-new SPM which would not be a small task. At this time we’re taking a wait and see approach to webOS. When it ships we’ll watch the adoption rate and decide if it warrants developing SPM for webOS or not. Keep in mind it has currently been announced for one device (the Pre) on one carrier (#3 and currently falling) so it remains to be seen if and when it appears on additional devices and carriers for the worldwide market and achieves a significant market share." LOL

Anyway, good to see it will probably happen, as this is a main reason I still use my WM phone as a backup. Sling on.

Finally. This app is one that alot of people are going to be hanging onto the edge of their seats for. I've used Sling on WM and BB and both were well executed. I can't wait to see how our Android version stacks up.

I wish more people had Sony's Locationfree TV. I want an app for that but I know it will never happen.
