    Default Voice Dialer won't work

I installed the cupcake update and every time I try to voice dial, I get an error message and force close option. I just got my g1 shortly before I received the update. I don't know if the update is causing the problem or if it's caused by something else. Since I am new to the g1 and andriod OS...any sugeestions?

    Thanks in advance!

You're not alone, and this isn't an out-of-the-box problem. It's a cupcake update problem. I have the same problem as you, but before I installed Android OS 1.5--Cupcake--I could use voice dial no problem. Now, after updating from US RC33, I get a Force Close Error every single time I try to use the voice dialer function. Hopefully Google will soon put up standard apps up on the Market so that if one is malfunctioning, perhaps we can troubleshoot the problem and fix it ourselves with minimal effort/time/frustration involved. Maybe someone out in this forum community has the answer? Thoughts/input would be great!

    Thanks in advance

Anyone ever find a good solution for this problem?? I can't seem to get my voice dialer to work either, keep getting "the application voice dialer (process com.android.voicedialer) has stopped unexpectedly" like others. I had read on a couple of forums that if you re-apply the update from a download version via SD card manual update that it could fix this problem. I haven't been able to find any other solution. I have tried the "hard reset" and it didn't work, and I really don't want to call tmobile "support". Do any of you g1 experts think the manual update would work or have any other suggestions? If I did this manual update/flash would I have to reinstall my apps and re-signup, etc afterwards??

Here's a couple more links with people having the problem.

Even before cupcake I couldnt get the voice dialer to work reliably. I was lucky if it could come close to a phone number.

Just wanted to leave an update. I fixed my voice dialer problem. Probably not a fix
for the meek. I basically manually reloaded the OS back on the phone from RC29 all
the way back to 1.5CRC1. It works great now including voice dialing! I think it was
an OTA update that fudged it up in the first place. There is more info in the link below on the tmobile
forum which I used as a reference to fix mine. good luck to all!

myTouch 3G voice dialer (The application Voice Dialer (process com.android.voicedialer) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.

After spending a few hours reading way too many posts on a bunch of websites.
Standard resets, and a few other things,
I decided to try the following
    To reset the phone
1 Press HOME, then press MENU, and then touch Settings.
2 Scroll down the screen, then touch SD card & phone storage.
3 Navigate to the Internal phone storage section, then touch Factory data reset.
4 On the Factory data reset screen, touch Reset phone. If prompted, enter your screen unlock
    pattern, then touch Erase everything.

After doing the initial setup I waited a min or 2 and tried it.
    It worked!
But my contasts were still loading, so I tried it every few minutes, and after about 10 minutes it stopped working!
So my conclushion is that this is directly related to the number of contacts and being a business user, I have over 3,000
What the limit is, I have no idea.
I think a quick / easy fix would be to have the voice dialer only access the Contacts that are Favorites and not try to sort through the full contact list.
Now if I was a programmer!
