    Default tunes remote not pairing

Anyone know (or has successfully completed) how to pair up the phone with iTunes? I keep getting to the pairing screen on the phone but it never seems to recognize the device on iTunes...I've already opened up the port it asked for and am sharing my library on iTunes...any input?

I can't even get that far - I just get stuck searching the network. Does itunes have to be on a PC that's connected WIRELESSLY to the network, or can it be to a hard-wired PC on the network?

I'm using Gmote and it has to be on a wireless network so it would surprise me if the itunes one was the same way. I do wish they would make a media monkey remote, that would be fantastic.

I downloaded both The Tunes remote and Gmote.

Gmote is better. You just need to install the server software and you're ready to go.

Gmote is awesome, but the only problem is that it doesn't control your music in the media player you are using. The main functionality I can see using it with is that if I'm having a party and I have my computer in a central location with a mix of songs playing I could hypothetically pause, play, go to next track, mute, so on and so forth, from any location in the house. This is the reason that I think the i-tunes remote would be great, but I don't use i-tunes so its hard to say. Like I said before, they need to make one for media monkey so I can have parties and control the music with my phone from anywhere in the house. I'd be a happy camper.

I know that the G1 has to be on your wireless home network, but I'm wondering whether the built-in functionality of itunes requires that itunes is connected wirelessly to the network instead of through an ethernet connection. I also downloaded the Gmote and it works flawlessly on the same PC that I can't get tunes remote to work on.

Yeah, thats what I meant, my computer has to be on wifi, as well as the G1, gmote doesn't work with my PC that is hardwired but it works flawlessly on my wireless laptop.

Thanks guys. Gmote works fine on my hard-wired PC, but for some reason I just can't get Tunes Remote to work...very frustrating...are there any hidden settings in iTunes that I'm missing? I've already disabled my firewall in my router and that didn't help. I just get stuck on searching network for libraries.
