Default Tired of the lack of apps?

Get over it! People really need to stop whining about how many apps the iphone has and how barren android is in comparison. Does anyone here even remember how long after release until the app store came into existence? Lets see, the iPhone was initially introduced in the united states on June 29, 2007, the app store opened July 11, 2008! That means unless you jailbroke your phone and ran unsigned code you were stuck with the apps the phone came with for over a year with the addition of some sad little web apps being run over the pathetic ATT edge network. I'll bet good money that a year from now android will have completely steamrolled the iphone app store and will be gunning for windows mobile when it comes to quantity of quality apps. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride because its just starting to get interesting.

wow very well said. People need to stop comparing the two and realize that the iPhone has been out for a long time and most importantly is a 2nd generation phone (iphone 3g). Soon enough android will start having more and more apps when different carriers starting having android and there is more options to buy a phone with android other then the G1. Believe it or not, not everyone likes the G1.

    Just sit back and enjoy...
cant put this damn phone down...

This is true!! I think the problem is that we all want instant gratification. I blame Google for not being well prepped and i also blame myself for setting such high hopes. The point of coming out wit G1 is to stomp apple out the game, and open the market to developers. With seeing what apple has Google should have known they have to step out the box correct. Beats me who planned the release date but in planning they should have all the apps that apple has already.

    1) to steal Iphone customers
    2) to Rep Tmobile hard
    3) for sheer bragging rights

So I choose not to blame myself for wanting more right out the box. GOOGLE STEP YA GAME UP FAST!!!!!

They don't have all the apps out because today marks the first day that they are opening up for devs to upload apps.

Ya got that right...few people seem to have any patience at all about any perceived problem or lack in the G1 or Android. They just want everything any other phone has and they want it now. We are dealing with the initial release of hardware and software. Jeez, give it a little time!
I blame Google for not being well prepped...(Android) should have all the apps that apple has already.
Seriously, do you realize how difficult that would be? It's just nuts to expect that...

    No it isn't.
...and open the market to developers.
    Yes, it is.

The OP made very good points. The iPhone has come a long way since it was introduced, and still lacks basic things like copy-paste, removable storage & battery - stuff any serious phone should have. That the initial release of the G1/Android can compete at all with the iphone after it had a year and a half head start says a lot about the future posssibilities. In far less than a year and a half Android will have plenty of apps to choose from and we will be able to choose from at least several phones from several manufacturers. This is all just gettin' started...

Ummmm, google is not making the apps. Developers are.

So why is google catching all the heat here?

    Lol

and even then, as stated above, today is the first day for the upload process to be open to all ..... Isn't it?

Maybe they wanted the phone to be out a little bit to make sure there will be no problems with it. Why have everyone down all the stuff now and then loose it all if there was a problem with the phone.......

And maybe..... They did not want mass downloading to clog up their servers. So they waited a week or so to let eveyone get over the fact they have a new phone. This way they will download gradually instead of all at once....
