I'm looking at all the apps out there and its not clear what specific steaming audio formats (if any) will be supported on Android.
If I want to listen to the streaming of my local NPR affiliate for instance, will Android phones allow me to? Also, I haven't found a specific Podcast app.. Am I not looking hard enough? |

podcasts are generally just mp3 files you can just download them and play them through the audio player but I don't know about a specific program to go get them for you.

Yeah... it would be something that would monitor the RSS feeds and d/l the mp3s as new ones appeared.

thats a good idea I'm sure someone will make it. Untill then I'll let my zune software do the work and go get them then just manually move them to my g1. Podcasts are what get me through my workday

It looks like the developers of Podcaster are looking into making an app for Android since Apple rejected it for the iPhone because "“it duplicates the functionality of the Podcast section of iTunes.”
I'm sure others will be available anyways, can't imagine it would be too hard to implement.

HUMMINGBIRD Hummingbird is your media to go solution; it is being developed to fulfill the need of streaming music, video and pictures to certified Android cell phones. Hummingbird essentially lets you listen to your music, watch videos, and view photos anywhere in the world. No hard-drive or memory card is required to view, listen or watch your media files. However, performace increases with the presence of a media card or hard-drive. currently in development...no app download available as of yet but its coming |
