From what I heard it can be added, google might add it in future update, since they had bluetooth APIs before, they just removed it so they can work more on it:

nice! funny how some people are mad they didnt include it from the start, when all they have to do is just add it later on. cool though, thanx.
The support could definitely be added. I remember buying my iMate JAM (HTC Magician) right when A2DP stereo bluetooth technology just started shipping. My device did not support it, but about 6 months later I was able to install drivers for another WM device on my phone which enabled me to use stereo bluetooth headsets. It could be somethign that HTC has to do for the G1 and may have nothing to to with Android not being able to support it.
Still wondering about stereo bluetooth. a search on the Android Dev Blog has no returns for A2DP.
I don't take that as a good sign.

yea it has adp2
knowledge is power
it does have a2dp. but it doesnt work correctly still for some people. cuts on and off randomly every few minutes for me with my sony stereo bt headphones.
