A perfect app in my opinion. Very, very useful. I love it.
i would like to see that when you hit the reply button, it will let you choose which messaging program to use---like i use chompsms and handcent, but it automatically defaults to chompsms since i have my native messaging disabled---sometimes i dont want it to automatically go to chomp---most of the time i use handcent
A perfect app in my opinion. Very, very useful. I love it.
i don't think programmers can override the charging led.
can you add a feature so that when a text comes in, the g1 printa a dollar? only way i could see it beinf better, its great.
Excellent app. I'm very happy. I pattern lock my screen for security reasons and you've really made my life easier to read and clear SMS'.
Thanks for really making Android better.
Thanks for all the feedback! Responses below.
I could make it bigger but it would just be by scaling the photo so it would end up looking pixelated - unfortunately the OS only stores the smaller version (as far as I can tell anyway).
I'm not aware of a way to do this unfortunately - the API does not override the charing LED
You can kind of do this already - set the option to mark messages as read when clicking close. Then click "close" to mark as read or the physical "back" button to dismiss but leave the message as unread
This also works already (part of the Android system) - to stop it defaulting to Chomp (or any app) go to system Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Chomp SMS -> Click "Clear defaults" button. Next time you click Reply it will prompt you for which app to use. I'm not familiar with the handcent app - if it isn't appearing in the list then it's something that the makers of handcent will have to fix.
The popup should actually display the whole text message already - if the message is too long it should scroll (side note, some people have reported issues with this though so I will take a look and make sure it's working).
Finally - to people who replied about the size/layout of the popup window - this is something I've been thinking about. Ideally I would love to have "skinning" type support where there are several skins to choose from - this feature might be a bit more long term as it would require a bit more work. Short term I can look at adding 3 sizes. Although is that really necessary if the popup fits the whole message? Or would it be to increase font sizes?

I think this is a great app and so far it seems to be working perfectly. Having said that...
Is there a way to have the vibrate function correlate directly with whether the phone is in vibrate mode? In other words, when the phone's ringer is on, I want an sms audio notification but no vibrate notification. And when the ringer is on vibrate I want a vibrate notification but no audio (this part works already). As it is now, the vibrate notification stays on regardless of whether the ringer is on.
I must have missed it, but the post before me kind of sums up what I wanted - Custom sounds for messages.
And yep, great app indeed whats next?![]()
Hey Adam, I e-mailed you back on near the end of 2008 and never received a reply.
My suggestion for SMS Popup was as follows:
I am wondering if there are any plans for SMS Popup to where it does not show the popup if you are in that particular message already with that person. If that is too difficult, possibly off all together when inside Messaging.
I am not sure if this is possible. I know the iPhone does this as I asked a friend to verify if it does, given I know it is an iPhone and not the Android but would like to see such a feature if can be done.
This is such a wonderful app which has made my G1/Android experience much more pleasureable. I was just about to email u my idea for the reminder notification before u released it! I think mistical has touched on my other suggestion about the window not popping up if your already in that text window. Now I was wondering also have u ever thought about developing a full texting app maybe? I really like the look of the pop sms window with the picture and sharp text. Im currently using chompsms which is a great program with a unique UI but the bubble chat style just doesnt suit my taste. I think the more simple clean look that your program provides would be a great alternative to those of us who seek more traditional visuals from a texting app yet desire more than the vanilla look Google provides. I have some other ideas to spice it up a tad which id be more than happy to share if u decide to pursue the project.
