No, that's what I was explaining... This is a skype client for the phone, but it will use your cell minutes. It's only VOIP on the server, never on your end.

Well, it makes sense if you're a skype user, who is always on skype when you're on your computer. This just allows you to take your skype with you. If you're not already a skype user (like me), I don't see this app getting anyone into skype.

Well, if you would be a long time skype user you would see how having skype makes sence look at it this way... some people choose to use different chat clients... some people use AIM some people use MSN some people use ICQ some people use Yahoo and other's choose to use Skype. when you were 1st introduced to the INTERNET WORLD you were most likely introduced to AOL. and from AOL you went on to use AIM and so on and so on... for people who couldn't afford AOL use other clients to keep in contact with there friends and family's like MIRC,MSN,ICQ,YAHOO,and SKYPE. look at it that way... so what dont make any sence to you makes sence to someone who is familiar with the software

In this beta version, anyone can receive calls, instant message and see who’s online. If you want to call phones, mobiles, or any of your Skype contacts, this is limited to people in Brazil (Rio de Janeiro & Sao Paulo), Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Poland, Sweden and UK
Are those the only countries you'd be able to make calls to or from?

Seems like it'd be very handy for making international calls free during nights and weekends (for those who have free nights and weekends), and having the option of using peak minutes instead of paying international rates some other way isn't bad either.

I agree with baji, the main benefit of a program like this is that people will be able to make (and receive) international calls and will only have to pay for their cell phone minutes plus the Skype charges. This is much cheaper than making international calls the traditional way.
