Go to the first page of this thread and follow the instuctions, after you download the right file extract the files to your SD it does'nt matter were on the SD card, its a good idear to backup your SD card first, use Astro from the market.

I think this link makes it really simple, especially with the root app helping out

MY PHONE HAS BEEN BRICKED! I tried following your instructions, and I did so exactly as described. I went through the onscreen instructions to update, then it got to DREAIMG.nbh, and failed. Below is an apporximation of my read-out

    DREAIMG.nbh - FAIL

    BOOTLOADER -
    RECOVERY -
    BOOT -
    SPLASH1 -
    SYSTEM -
    USERDATA -
    RADIO_V2 -

    Update Terminate
    UPDATE FAIL

All buttons were non-responsive, so I pulled the battery. Upon powering it back up, it came to the update screen again, withOUT holding the camera button. I have tried it 3 times, but appearantly the RC30 image is gone. Is there anything I can do without the ability to take the memory card from the phone and access it directly via my computer? I don't have a reader for media cards, especially not microSD cards. Luckilly, my local Wal-mart is open 24/7. I'll head over there, grab a sd card reader and microSD card adapter, and see if I can fix this by getting a differant DREAIMG.nbh file and throwing that on there.

Please HELP! ANYTHING that could help me get it working agian is appreciated. Also, I did verify before the attempt that I was on RC30.

OK! I'm VERY glad to say that I managed to fix it on my own. The DREAIMG.nbh file in the zip file on this thread is corrupt. use http://koushikdutta.blurryfox.com/G1/DREAIMG-RC29.zip instead. For those whose phones are still bricked, just go out and buy a cheap SD card reader/writer and adapter for MicroSD. Put the MicroSD card in the adapter, the adapter into the reader/writer, and plug the whole thing into your computer. Decompress and copy the file I've linked to the card, then umount the card, then put it back into your phone. From there, just redo the steps in the tutorial. You should be back up and running!

I had the same problem last night and went and downloaded the file elsewhere and put it on the sd card and fixed it.

Quick question. I just rooted, do I keep the files for rooting on my sd or can I remove them now?

You can remove the files from the SD, what I did is keep the downloaded zip files on my PC just incase I needed them again.
