Rooting your G1 made easy.

LOL thanks, sorry for the sarcasm. I was looking for an answer on if I could root my RC33 stock phone using the same steps as the OP did in post #1. Looks like I can. Have to downgrade to RC29 and proceed through rooting, then back to JF's RC 30 and then to JF's RC33. Is that really correct? Thanks for your help.

yep that's what you do, go back to 29 proceed through rooting onwards to jf30 and into 33. you got it.

ok great, i just wanted to confirm it so I don't brick it. I have been hesitant to mod this phone at all but am really wanting multi and auto rotate now. I had no problems modding my Wizard but this seems a little different as I have no experience with linux

well if you can copy commands you can do it. once you get it rooted let me know, we'll get the bootloader and nandroid on there, for security from backups (its one of those things you'll never need to use until you REALLY REALLY need it.) so we'll get it and then never use it right?

plus I'm beginning to think the odds of bricking a phone if you just stick to the more common problems are very very very slim. its only once you go all bananas (and I mean bananas not just copying commands with the occasional typo) in terminal that you got to worry about it.

Is installing the modified bootloader/Hard SPL just like the same steps as manually installing the RC33 update?

you obviously didn't read my question carefully. I asked if a stock RC33 phone can follow the same steps as the original "how-to". I've read all 18+ pages. Nothing on my question. But it's ok, I found my answer on XDA bwhahaha
