Thread: Rooting/SD Card Problem

  1. #1

    Default Rooting/SD Card Problem

When I try to get root on my g1 I get to the "flash_image recovery recovery.img" step and I keep getting "error opening recovery.img: No such file or directory." I have tried changing recovery.img to /sdcard/recovery.img and I have made sure that I properly unmounted it. When I cd to sdcard and ls the only thing inside is dcim, but when I mount it to my pc again the recovery.img and update.zip folders are inside and nothing else.

You aren't suppose to unmount the SD card.

    Not sure I understand.

Also did the card formated in fat32?

are you installing the update.zip right now? I'm not sure what step your on.

but if that's what you're doing, make sure its not named update.zip.zip on accident because of the hidden file extensions.

what rc# is your phone at.

also you can't rename the file just anything it has to be recovery.img to work. but if you started on those steps but had rc30 its not going to work. I don' think.

Its at rc29 and I meant I changed the code "flash_image recovery recovery.img" to "flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img" after reading that it might help somewhere else.

im pretty sure i had this same problem when i got myself root.
i added .zip to the update file, and THAT was the problem. try taking the ".zip" off the name and see if that helps.

if this is the problem that means .zip is already on the file and what yours looks like is update.zip.zip and the g1 wont know thats the right one.

    hope this helps

woops this is already a few up... i just skimmed when i saw the problem. sorry cons
