I can't even begin to explain how great an app like this would be... Who do we talk to to get this started?
I use a harmony remote with mine, I bought an £8 infra red remote with receiver and keep the receiver plugged in
But you don't have one so how do you know?
I had one for months before getting my Harmony and it worked brilliantly, responded immediately and worked perfectly, not "clunky" in the slightest, probably the best remote I've ever used

i'm having a real issue with this. i've tried EVERYTHING. read the directions that didnt work. check everything i was supposed to-- the wireless is fine, router is fine, inserted the address mannually, even released the IP address, turned on & off the password in tunes, and everything is check in the preferences there as well ... and still NOTHING. -sighs. I'm stuck at the infamous 0000 screen and nothing at all pops up on my PC. i even went as far as updating my itunes.

PLEASE HELP.
i really dont want to uninstall this app because i'm sure i'll love it if i get it to work.
If there any progress on this project? got curious since I just got myself a PS3 aswell.
In case you need testers, you got one here.
EDIT: haha, evil title says i'm propably spam![]()
You most certainly CAN use a Harmony Remote with a PS3. I have done it!
You just need a IR dongle to plug into one of the USB ports on your PS3. I used this one from Amazon. You then just add the PS3 remote commands (called "Logic3PS3 Remote" on the Harmony software) and you're done.
Not all the commands in the "Logic3PS3 Remote" commands seem to work, but the important ones (Play, Pause, Stop, FF, RW) all do.
The remote only works while playing a DVD or BluRay. You can't use it to navigate the PS3 menus to start it playing, so you still need to use the normal controller at the start. Also, the IR dongle seems to configure itself as Controller 1. I've found 1 game which won't accept any inputs from the normal controller (which ends up being Controller 2) until I manually change the Controller I'm using to Controller 1.
Oops - I should have updated my post above.
The solution I recommended for using a Harmony remote with a PS3 is not the best. Logitech actually sell a specific device now that you pair with your PS3 as a proper remote, and you can then control this device via your Harmony. It supports all 50-odd buttons on the official PS3 remote, including turning your PS3 on and navigating all menus. It works really well. Here's a link to one for sale on Amazon UK for reference of what I'm talking about: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-Har...dp/B002GGQLHM/
As for an app - can't help you. But I reckon being able to use your remote control to remotely control everything is better than having to use your phone as a remote control.
Well people, I broke down, and got a program from Cydia on my jailbroken ipod touch. It is called webe++ and is a minimal cost for the features. I now have the ability to control my media pc, macbook pro, and ps3, via bluetooth mouse and keyboard. Now everyone is looking for an application to control the ps3 with an android phone, but there is none, but if you have an Ipod touch, an Iphone, or an Ipad, this app will get u what you are looking for. You can send and receive messages during gameplay using the keyboard feature. As long as the device supports bluetooth hid devices, it will work, there is no need to download any server software, or any other additional software. The program automatically searches for these types of devices, and connects after the passkey is input in the device. Very good buy for the price, will only work on jailbroken Ipods, not sure about iphone or ipad.
