or maybe the user, isn't spelling correctly?
For a company that made its fame on building a better search engine, the Google Android Market search function is pretty weak. Doesn't seem to find partial words or often even the second word in a App title. Maybe it is the tagging that the developers are doing? I find it even more odd that the Google Android website doesn't even have a search box???

Try it.
First try typing a partial word - something that works well in Google:
Just for kicks type: solit
Nope, no solitaire despite there being at least 6 market apps with 'solitaire' in the name.
I think the strength of search engines and part of what has made Google search so successful is the ability to search with partial knowledge. If you know a snip of the name of an app that you remember hearing someone mention and you can't call up that app searching for it, then Google is doing a disservice by implementing a such a sub-standard search in the Android Market.
Agreed. The search function, as well as categorization in the Android market is stunningly bad. Especially when you consider where it's coming from. I find it hard to believe that none of the "higher ups" at Google use a G1 and find the market acceptable.
In addition to improved search, separate categories for soundboards and skins would really improve the experience.
Just my two pennies.

I second this argument...
Yeah. Pretty sad.
But then in General, most of the apps supplied by Google are pathetic, IMO/
From the email app to the Browser and even look of the GUI.
They have put in the minimal amount of effort.
