Everyone should use tethering. Get rid of your monthly $100 home cable bill. Let your plasma tv be your monitor and watch online TV shows/movies. I use tethering for this purpose. Many shows are now streaming online for free. www.hulu.com
Yes, I need Tethering. Willing to pay $20+ for an application.
Yes, I want Tethering. Won't pay more then $10-20 for an application.
Tethering will be nice. Will download an application if it is free
No real want use or desire to tether. I think can do everything I want with my G1.
Oh, totally! This would be all around a perfect device if it could double as a modem. I got sick of trying to figure out how to get my iPhone to do it and eventually just broke down and bought a motow490 for it. Really do need that. I don't have constant access to internet and i travel a lot. Being able to hook up and use it as a modem in Dennie's in the sticks just to get some time away from driving is a god send. When ever i make my way to Tampa i don't usually have Internet access unless in a public wi-fi area, the w490 allowed me to browse the net at home at 3am, albeit slow, but better than nothing. the G1 with tethering and 3g would really super make t-mos new 3g shine.
As far a t-mo is concerned, I've never had any gruff from them by doing it on any device. They've always helped if i ran into issues with it.

I want it and I will use it!![]()
Divorcing Blackberry for Android....
Would be a nice to have, but really.... if the G1 does what all I think it will, then that seriously cuts down on the need for tethering. The G1 will be your internet, and likely have most of your frequently used apps. Tethering would only be needed for very pc specific tasks.
I'd pay over $20 for a tethered modem app, although $20 is a good price point. The entire reason I bought a G1 was to use it as a tethered modem. Imagine how disappointed I was when I realized that the salesmen didn't bother to mention that it can't be used that way. Now I have a few more days left to decide whether or not to return it and get something else or switch back to my previous carrier.
As far as the G1 cutting down the need for tethering, sure, for some things. But when you wanna vpn into your desktop and have to do it on a corporate laptop, you can't do it from the G1. About the only time I use it that way is when I'm on the road and can't get a WiFi connection.
